Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu

Appellation d'origine protégée

This particular terroir of round pebbles and alluvial terraces gives birth to a generous and spicy wine, typical of the Grenache grape variety. A pure pleasure with small game or ripened cheese

After a warm and hot summer, some rainy periods enabled the grapes to achieve the ideal maturity. During the harvest (which was early), the wind regulated the excessive temperatures, preserving the aromas of the grapes. This ideal weather and healthy conditions make the 2015 vintage one of the most qualitative in recent years.

Grape Varieties:

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes grown on large alluvial terraces (plateau des Garrigues). The subsoil is a combination of blue clay, sandstone and cobalt.

Winemaking:

The grapes are meticulously sorted, crushed and destemmed before fermentation which lasts for approximatively 3 weeks. The wine is then racked off before undergoing «malolactic» fermentation and spending up to 12 months in vat before bottling.

Tasting notes:

This lush red wine reveals black fruit aromas (blackberry, cherry), exotic spices (paprika, cumin) and a touch of liquorice on the finish.

Service & food pairing suggestions:

Subtle and complex, the Plan de Dieu is an ideal companion to roast pheasant, grilled steak and even dark chocolate mousse. Serve at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. For optimal enjoyment, open within 5 or 6 years.

Saint Mappalicus is the saint patron of a town called Jonquières, situated at the heart of the Plan de Dieu appellation.
