Gabriel Meffre
Collines Rhodaniennes “Sainte Blandine” – Syrah 2020

IGP Collines Rhodaniennes Red

Tasting

A limpid garnet-red colour. A fine nose of cherry pits and redcurrants with a subtle hint of leather. Fresh and spicy on the palate, slightly tense with morello cherry flavours. A fresh wine (tasted in October 2024)

Food & wine pairings

It pairs nicely with delicatessen meats or tapas.

Detailed information

Vintage

Throughout the year, the planets were perfectly aligned: no frost, winter rains to replenish the soil and a generous summer sunshine without excessive heat. These ideal climatic conditons  resulted in very healthy grapes and an excellent sanitary state. A remarkable vintage as much by the quality of the berries as by the duration of the harvest ! Terroir

The territory of the IGP Collines Rhodanienne covers around 670 hectares in the northern Rhône region and is spread over a large area reaching from just north of the town of Vienne to over 100km south along the Rhône River. The zone is equally divided east and west of the Rhône. The soils are mostly limestone-rich and fractured granite and the Syrah from this regional appellation produces excellent value wines.

Winemaking

Traditional winemaking in vats : pumping over, rack-and-return and maceration.
