Gabriel

Gabriel

Our “Gabriel” collection is named after the illustrious founder of the winery, Gabriel Meffre. Very early on he selected certain grape varieties with the aim of producing exciting and flavourful wines. It is to celebrate this adventurous and visionary spirit that we created this uniquely retro cuvée in his honour.

1929 – The encounter: As he rounded a bend in the road, Gabriel came across a damsel in distress named Juliette, who would later become his wife. The story goes that she had borrowed her father’s car without telling him, and that it had broken down. Gabriel offered to help and that’s where it all began…

1936 – The creation of the winery: For some years already, Gabriel had been buying vineyards in the Rhône Valley and Provence but it was in this precise year that he decided to found his Winery.

1948 – The winery takes off: Thanks to his passion, dedication, and perseverance, Gabriel successfully establishes the reputation of his wines and his Winery in France and then in the rest of the world.

The grapes come from the Languedoc region in the South of France which is the oldest wine producing region in France.

In Southern France, the Languedoc-Roussillon region is located on a mozaic of landscapes: fine sandy beach, lagoon, garrigue, hill, wild gorge, mountainous terrain… This wide diversity gives richness to these soils, spanning the banks of the Rhône in the east, Carcassonne in the west, the foothills of the Massif Central in the north, all the way to the Mediterranean coast in the south.
