Wine moments and places
We continue our series of portraits of women at Gabriel Meffre. This time, we will also be looking at the brand ‘Juliette Meffre’ and the team working to promote its sales. Find out about Caroline’s day-to-day work!
Are you thinking about opening a good bottle of wine early for your dinner? Today, we will be looking at aerating wine: a key step!
Provençale’, ‘Rhodanienne’, ‘Bourguignonne’, ‘Ligérienne’: each one has a specific weight, shape and name depending on the region it comes from… We are of course talking about the wine bottle! The bottle has enabled increasing mastery of wine over the centuries. It has led to an improvement in the preservation and, as a result, the quality of wines.
“Il a une belle robe, il est gouleyant, il a de la cuisse”. Coluche’s line in the film L’Aile ou la Cuisse (The Wing or the Thigh) has become a well-known phrase. But what does ‘gouleyant’ mean? And what is the ‘cuisse’ and the ‘robe’ of a wine? There is no shortage of adjectives to choose from when talking about wine. Maison Gabriel Meffre throws a little light on the tricky language of wine tasting.
As we drive innovation to the next level, our team has leapt into the new year with the same vitality and conviction that underpin everything we do at our winery! This article presents just some of the projects we have planned in 2020.
With the nights drawing in and Christmas celebrations fast approaching, your mouth is probably already watering at the mere thought of a delicious cheese board. Wine is the ideal partner, but which one you choose depends on the type of milk the cheese is made from and its firmness. Véronique Torcolacci—our winemaker—talks us through it!
Rosé and white wines are of course very popular when the weather is hot. However, this certainly does not mean that lovers of red wine can’t continue to enjoy their favourite tipple over the summer period! We suggest four red wines to surprise your taste buds this summer. Because red wine can be enjoyed at any time of the year !
Our Winery has been in business with Asia—a multi-market region—for many years now. China, Japan and Southeast Asia are the three main export centres for rolling out our Rhone Valley wines across this vast continent. When you work on international markets, we feel it’s important to adopt an international mindset. That’s why we make a concerted effort to learn about the culture of each export country and champion an open, personable approach in our dealings with local buyers.
Savoured in the garden after work, shared with friends dining alfresco or sipped picnicking by the waterside, rosé is the perfect companion to long summer days. Which is why Gabriel Meffre has always championed this style of wine that has not always been given the credibility it deserves. Our Cuvée Amoureuse—the ideal fine-dining rosé—is the purest expression of what a rosé should be.
