Our tasting workshops: fun and educational !

Workshop – Visit to Domaine de Longue Toque

We take you on a tour of the Domaine de Longue Toque Estate before making our way to the winemaking facilities. Our workshops usually consist of small groups and attract a range of various people: couples, friends on holiday, members of a cultural or sports association or even wine clubs.
Our visit concludes in the cellar where we invite our guests to taste a selection of three wines. We also use this time to explain the specific characteristics of the Gigondas terroir and the grape varieties we use at Domaine deLongueToque

Workshop – Tasting for beginners

In this session, you are given the keys to unlocking the initial secrets of wine tasting. Over 90 minutes, we explain the theory behind the art of wine tasting while you get to put it into practice. Taste and analyse a selection of six wines, assisted by a Sommelier, to help you describe the appearance, identify the smells, flavours and more. Learn the vocabulary to put your analysis into words and train yourself to pick out individual aromas.

‘This is always a really interactive session, we ask participants to express what they see, taste, smell, etc. with as much freedom as possible and the response is always very enthusiastic!’ explains Jasper Van Berkel, Sommelier and cellar manager.

Atelier – Tasting for connoisseurs

Torgether, we taste six Laurus wines – our winery’s most prestigious and iconic collection of parcel selections. They represent nearly all of the appellations in the Rhône Valley, from north to south. From Saint-Joseph to Crozes Hermitage, from Gigondas to Châteauneuf du Pape... and many more.
‘These workshops tend to attract more experienced wine lovers looking to invest in the finest bottles,‘ says Jasper. ‘In high season, we get lots of visitors from overseas. They account for over half of all participants: Americans, Canadians, Brits, Germans, Dutch and Belgians for the most part. The clientèle is especially grateful that we are able to offer the sessions in their mother tongue. A personal touch that we feel gives us the edge in terms of quality.’
Indeed, when professional association Inter Rhône introduced a quality assessment system focusing on service (denoted by vine leaves), the winery was immediately awarded the highest score of three vine leaves, in particular for hosting sessions in a choice of language.

Atelier – The secret terroirs in Gigondas

This two-hour excursion by 4×4 takes visitors on a tour of plots of vines around the Domaine de Longue Toque, in the Dentelles de Montmirail, a mountainous area usually out of bounds to the public. We explain all about the terroirs of Gigondas. The wine tasting takes place outside among the vines, weather permitting! This exclusive experience, where guests are treated like VIPs, has proved a resounding success.
We explain our single-vineyard wines and invite guests to taste a selection of bottles. A classic wine, a blend of different terroirs or single-vineyard wines such as our iconic “Hommage à Gabriel Meffre, or our “Lieu-dit Les Trois Yeux”.’

Workshops are our passion

We are proud of our terroirs and our savoir-faire and we love to share them with you. Our winery cares more than just about selling wine: we want to tell you the story behind it and explain how we make it. We treasure the moments of real interaction we create with our customers by taking our time. Connecting with people is precious to us and we hope this develops into long-term relationships with our clientèle.

If you would like to learn more about these workshops, please contact the cellar directly for further details. You can also book your places on the Rue des Vignerons platform.
